1. Introduction
TranscriptAny ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our service at transcriptany.com.
By using TranscriptAny, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect minimal information to provide our service:
- Video URLs: When you paste a video link, we process it to fetch the transcript. We do not store video URLs after processing.
- Uploaded files: Files you upload are processed in memory and immediately deleted after transcription. We never store your video or audio files.
- Account information (optional): If you create an account or upgrade to Pro, we collect your email address (via email/password, magic link, or Google sign-in) to manage your account and subscription.
- Payment information: If you upgrade to Pro, payment is processed directly by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card details.
- Saved transcripts (Pro, optional): If you use Transcript History, the transcripts you choose to save are stored in our database, tied to your account. This only happens when you take that action — nothing is saved automatically.
- Usage data: We store daily usage limits (for free-plan AI summaries and file uploads) on our servers, associated with your account or IP address, plus preferences locally in your browser using localStorage.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information solely to provide the transcript service:
- Video URLs are sent to third-party APIs (YouTube, Supadata, Groq) to retrieve transcript data
- Transcript text is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate AI summaries
- No data is sold, shared with advertisers, or used for any purpose other than providing the service
4. Third-Party Services
TranscriptAny uses the following third-party services to operate:
- YouTube Data API — for YouTube caption retrieval (Google Privacy Policy applies)
- Supadata — for TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and X/Twitter transcripts
- Groq — for AI speech-to-text transcription of uploaded files
- Anthropic (Claude) — for AI-generated summaries and key takeaways
- Supabase — for account authentication, session management, and (for Pro users who choose to use Transcript History) storing saved transcripts
- Stripe — for processing Pro subscription payments; we never see or store your full payment details
- Railway — for hosting our backend server
- Netlify — for hosting our frontend website
Each of these services has their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them.
5. Data Retention
For most usage, TranscriptAny does not retain data on our servers beyond what is needed to complete a single request:
- Video URLs are discarded immediately after the transcript is returned
- Uploaded files are deleted from our servers immediately after transcription
- By default, transcripts and summaries are never stored on our servers — they exist only in your browser session
- Exception — Transcript History (Pro): if you explicitly choose to save a transcript using the Transcript History feature, that transcript is stored in our database, tied to your account, until you delete it or delete your account
6. Cookies and Local Storage
We use your browser's localStorage to remember your theme preference (light/dark mode) and, if you're logged in, your account session token (via Supabase). Free-plan daily usage limits are tracked on our servers, associated with your account or IP address, rather than only in local storage.
7. Children's Privacy
TranscriptAny is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it immediately.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of TranscriptAny after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
9. Chrome Extension
The TranscriptAny Chrome extension does not collect, store, or transmit any user data. When you click the extension icon or use its right-click menu option, it reads the URL of your current browser tab (or the link you clicked) only at that moment, and opens it as a link on transcriptany.com — the same as clicking a bookmark. The extension does not track your browsing history, does not run in the background, and does not send any data to our servers or any third party on its own.
Once you're on transcriptany.com, the same privacy practices described elsewhere in this policy apply.
10. Contact Us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your data, please contact us at support@transcriptany.com or visit our Contact page.
